Plàsi, originally Mikael Bitzarakis, was born on the island of Crete but mainly raised in Sweden with his mother where he moved by the age of four. After attending the music school Rytmus, he continued with studies in Stockholm, Milan, and Vienna where his songwriting ignited. His stage name that comes from the Ancient Greek word for creation (πλάση), and the inspiration is found in related acts within the acoustic folk genre, such as José González, Passenger, and The Tallest Man on Earth.
His deep lyrics about humanity mixed with more personal stories are often surrounded by melancholic atmospheres and calming harmonies. Since he released his debut album People in 2018 his music has spread internationally through streaming channels and European touring, including showcases on Iceland Airwaves and Eurosonic, and support shows for Henry Jamison. The latest single Mystery was released in May as the lead track on his upcoming EP, due to be released on Nettwerk (Passenger, Julia & Angus Stone, Hollow Coves) this fall.
